In Loving Memory of Grandpa Sherratt

Mike's Grandpa Sherratt passed away this past July and I wanted to blog about him a little bit. He was a really special person in my husbands life. Along with Mike's uncles he was like a father figure for him growing up. I remeber Mike talking about his grandpa on our first date and learning then what a special person he was. Mike talks about working on the farm with his grandpa and the many lessons he learned then. When going to family get to gethers he was the first to come over and give you a big hug, being truely genuine and sincerely happy that you were there. He had a very strong testimony of the church and bore it often to his children and granchildren. He wrote a poem Called "The Loom of Time" which reads; Man's life is placed in the loom of time, to a pattern he cannot see. While weavers work, and the shuttles fly til the dawn of eternity. Some shutters are filled with silver threads, and others with threads of gold, While others of the darker hues, are all that they can hold. God surely set the pattern in the weavers skillful hand and placed whithin the loom of time the masters skillful plan. The darker hues are necessary in the weavers skillful hand, As are the threads of gold and silver in the pattern of the plan. -Garth Sherratt. Just wanted to say how much we will miss him and that we are forever grateful for his example to us!
