Keylee lost her first tooth

Keylee lost her first tooth this last weekend. It had been loose for a couple of weeks. She was so freaked out by the idea of losing her tooth that she would'nt even touch it or try to wiggle it out. I couldn't stand it anymore and I twisted it out. Any way she was pretty excited when the tooth fairy came and slipped some money under her pillow.
Keylee didn't dare to look in the mirror and see her missing tooth.

Bunny, Carrie, Mike, and me down in vegas this last weekend. We had lots of fun hanging out and laughing our heads off.

A couple of weeks ago Mike went out of town for a few days so it was just me and the squeek. We had girls night out. We made chocolate chip cookies, watched a movie and had popcorn. Mom came down this same week to visit. We had dinner and took her to see Keylee's new school. Keylee also had fun painting finger nails with grandma.

In Loving Memory of Grandpa Sherratt

Mike's Grandpa Sherratt passed away this past July and I wanted to blog about him a little bit. He was a really special person in my husbands life. Along with Mike's uncles he was like a father figure for him growing up. I remeber Mike talking about his grandpa on our first date and learning then what a special person he was. Mike talks about working on the farm with his grandpa and the many lessons he learned then. When going to family get to gethers he was the first to come over and give you a big hug, being truely genuine and sincerely happy that you were there. He had a very strong testimony of the church and bore it often to his children and granchildren. He wrote a poem Called "The Loom of Time" which reads; Man's life is placed in the loom of time, to a pattern he cannot see. While weavers work, and the shuttles fly til the dawn of eternity. Some shutters are filled with silver threads, and others with threads of gold, While others of the darker hues, are all that they can hold. God surely set the pattern in the weavers skillful hand and placed whithin the loom of time the masters skillful plan. The darker hues are necessary in the weavers skillful hand, As are the threads of gold and silver in the pattern of the plan. -Garth Sherratt. Just wanted to say how much we will miss him and that we are forever grateful for his example to us!

Keylee's First Day of School

So it was Keylee's first day of kindergarten yesterday. She was really nervous, but I am so proud of her because she did really good and had a lot of fun. Her teacher is Mrs. Creel. The above pic is of her in her classroom. Today she rode the bus for the first time and was nervous but had a lot of fun. I am glad she gets to meet new kids and start this new chapter in her life even though I was a cry baby the night before and after I dropped her off . I hope you know how much I love you Keylee.

School Shopping, going to the Cabin and Baldwin Reunion

Mom rented this gorgeous cabin for us to stay in for the weekend on Beaver Mountain. We had so much fun haning out and visiting with each other on our last get together before school starts. Thanks mom, we had a blast! After our weekend we went to the Beaver Park for the Baldwin reunion. My camera went dead so I didn't get any pics, but we had a really yummy lunch and had a good time visiting with all the cousins, aunts and uncles on my moms side of the family.

4th of July,Gleave Reunion,Canning

Here are some more pics of the summer. For the 4th of July we went to Mike's Uncle John's house and had a really yummy dutch oven dinner, after we watched fireworks in the field across from his house. Then I have pics of the Gleave Reunion. I am glad that lots of people still come to this event because we always have so much fun riding four wheelers, fishing, and just visiting with each other. Other pics are of Mike and I canning. We have lots of tomatoes and were able to bottle 4 batches of tomato soup(yummy, my favorite with grilled cheese), 4 batches of salsa, 1 batch of tomato juice, and who knows what else becasue they keep growing! We were also able to do one batch of peach jam from the peaches in our back yard, and I also dried some apricots as well.

FISH TACO'S

I had fish taco's when I was up north a long time ago and thought they were really good, so I thought I would try this recipe. It turned our really good. We had some mahimahi in the freezer we needed to use up but really any white fish will do.

2lb mahimahi
1/2 C vegtable oil
3T lime juice
5 t chili powder
1-1/2 t. ground cumin
1-1/2 t. ground corriander
1-1/2 t. minced garlic
salt to taste
8 flour tortillas, 8" diameter
Southwestern Slaw;
2 C fine shredded green cabbage
2t. lime juice
2t. honey
2T minced red onion
2t. minced jalapeno peppers
2t. chopped cilantro to taste
combine and marinate for 30min.
Pico de gallo;
1 C diced tomatoes
4t. minced red onion
1/2t. red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
combine and mix well
Mexican crema;
mix sour cream with 1/2 t. finely grated lime zest, 2 t. lime juice

1-Combine first 7 ingredients and let marinade for 15-30min.
2-Grill fish 2-3min on each side turning once. slice into 16 equal slices.
3-Grill tortillas until they have light grill marks and heated through.
4- Center 2 pieces of girlled fish on each tortilla and top with southwestern slaw, pico de gallo, and a dolop of mexican crema. fold in half and serve immediately. Makes 8 servings.
